Aegean Airlines S.A. was created in 1987 as Aegean Aviation. It is the largest Greek airline in terms of overall passenger capacity, number of locations covered, and fleet size. Since joining Star Alliance in June 2010, it has provided scheduled and charter services from Athens and Thessaloniki to other major Greek cities as well as a variety of European and Middle Eastern destinations. Its primary hubs are Athens International Airport, Thessaloniki International Airport, and Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus. Other Greek airports, some of which are seasonal, are also used as bases. Its headquarters are in Kifisia, an Athens suburb. Despite being Greece's largest airline, it is not a flag carrier.
